The village has its own taverna/kafeinon with a small minimarket and several shops. Sitia is 3 km down the road and at the time of writing there is a bus service 4 times a day. A hire car is recommended.

Sitia has excellent shops and restaurants as well as the market and cake shops. From the harbour there are boat services to other islands and the spectacular north coast road is also nearby and well worth the experience ! Down on the south coast by the Libyan sea (45 minutes drive) are a number of attractive villages and we recommend Makrigalios which has a number of good restaurants/tavernas as well as excellent sandy beaches (very suitable for small children!).
